About the role

The Account Executive (AE) is an ambitious, proactive and motivated individual that demonstrates solid and well-rounded communications skills, including a flair for compelling written and spoken communications, understanding of the media landscape and ability to build credible relationships with colleagues and clients. Playing a supporting role across a matrix structure of high-performing account teams, with a mix of blue-chip national and international clients in a range of sectors spanning both corporate and consumer brand work, the AE will embrace variety and new challenges.

EXPERTISE/SKILLS

  • Demonstrates some basic discipline understanding across brand communications (corporate and/ or consumer)

  • Builds understanding of fully integrated brand communications and uses a combination of earned media and owned media to deliver conversations for clients reaching their target audiences across multiple channels – including, but not limited to, media, social media, KOLs and influencers, websites, internal comms platforms, speaking opportunities & events

  • Solid writing skills, demonstrating ability to research and structure first drafts of a variety of content types and materials, crafting compelling stories from conception to delivery of content. Materials could range from press releases, media pitches and social channel posts to spokesperson briefing packs, campaign toolkits, campaign reports (examples only)

  • Demonstrates natural ability for media relations, adopting a proactive attitude to pitching stories to most categories of media. Fast to develop understanding of a client’s products, services, and values to confidently “sell in” material across a target set of media, and also begin to suggest new angles to supervisors for consideration. They will begin to establish personal contacts with key junior journalists in both horizontal and vertical media, and where relevant other target influencers, helping to maximise client exposure

  • Active delivery role in the team, supporting supervisors on agreed deliverables and processes across both administrative tasks, such as reporting, as well as disciplinary activity such as developing brand content or a press event

  • Works effectively under guidance from senior team members to deliver agreed tasks and client work efficiently, exhibiting a flexible and adaptable approach to meet priorities and deadlines

  • Starts to take on some client liaison around specific projects within the client’s overall programme and / or during team WIP updates

  • Starts to take ownership for specific campaigns and activity requiring inputs from multiple stakeholders, including liaising with and managing local market agencies and comms teams (when working on global brand clients), suppliers, campaign partners and talent

  • Supports account teams across all core processes and administrative tasks, meeting deadlines in a timely manner

  • Presentation skills – ability to confidently present ideas and insights to teammates

  • Demonstrates creative flair and confidently contributes to brainstorms, getting involved in brand planning, strategy and creative with senior teams.

  • Actively consumes topical news, opinion, commentary and trends to influence thinking and work, and shares with their teams and clients where relevant.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Demonstrates financial responsibility, showcasing good budget management with the ability to work to tight budgets

  • Diligent, ensuring financial admin is kept up to date and compliance with the agency’s financial and commercial requirements, including raising POs, maintaining timesheets and completing expense forms to appropriate timescales.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

  • Is an ambassador and advocate for the agency at internal and external events and networking opportunities.

  • Works with teams to support new opportunities and working practices, researching and generating new ideas and opportunities to ensure campaign success

  • Attends and contributes constructively to internal company meetings.

TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Works closely and collaboratively with teams, delivering across defined projects and learning how to manage multiple account priorities

  • Delegates effectively to interns or an admin assistant where relevant, ensuring full understanding and follow-through on tasks.

  • Continually seeks feedback from teams on approach and attitude, demonstrating a passion to develop self and gain skills and experience from teammates.

PERSONAL MANAGEMENT

  • Self-motivated and energetic with a professional attitude

  • A quick-thinker and solutions focused with an appetite to learn from peers and work collaboratively

  • Demonstrates ability to hone excellent organisational skills and personal time management techniques

  • Meticulous eye for detail, producing a high standard of work at all times, adhering to expected quality standards in their work – for example coverage reports, client WIP documents, press materials, etc. 

  • Displays emotional intelligence and warmth and is a natural communicator, demonstrating confidence and aptitude to build rapport with internal and external audiences (clients, media, influencers, partners, etc.)

  • Is able to thrive in a fast-paced and diverse environment, embracing new challenges and remaining calm under pressure created by short timelines, changing situations and external / client issues requiring support

  • Is committed to learning and personal development – attends recommended training sessions, and proactively seeks to develop deeper skills in areas of key interest

  • Maintains highest level of integrity and reliability in all circumstances and is regarded as trustworthy, demonstrating highest level of diplomacy when handling confidential information and client concerns

  • Social media savvy, interest in international and national media landscape and trends, is passionate about both brand storytelling and has a finger on the pulse of current affairs and the social and news agenda.
